Moderation on UNEAR aims to maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment while protecting everyone’s freedom of expression. This policy explains how and why we moderate content, what actions may be taken, and how to appeal a decision if you believe it was made in error.

  1. Moderation principles

Our moderation team ensures that all content shared on UNEAR complies with:

  • The Terms of Use

  • The Acceptable Use Policy

  • And the European Digital Services Act (DSA)

We aim to intervene as little as possible, but we reserve the right to take action whenever content or behavior threatens safety, respect, or legality on the platform.

  1. Types of possible actions

Depending on the severity or recurrence of a violation, UNEAR may:

  • Remove or hide content (text, photo, video, comment, challenge, etc.)

  • Warn the user concerned and specify the reason for the action

  • Temporarily limit certain actions (posting, commenting, sending challenges, etc.)

  • Suspend or deactivate an account in cases of repeated or serious violations

  • Report any illegal content to the competent authorities (in accordance with the DSA)

In each case, UNEAR commits to providing, whenever possible, a clear explanation of the reason and nature of the action taken.

  1. User reporting

Any user can report content or behavior they consider to be:

  • Illegal

  • Discriminatory or offensive

  • Contrary to these Terms or to the Acceptable Use Policy

To report content:

  • Click on the “Report” option available under the relevant post or profile

  • Indicate the reason for the report
Our team will review the situation and, if necessary, take appropriate action.

Reports are handled within a reasonable timeframe, and users receive a notification of the outcome (content removed, not removed, or other action taken).

  1. Right to appeal

If you believe a decision (content removal, account suspension, etc.) was made in error, you may appeal by following these steps:

  • Go to the “Support & Appeals” section in the app or on the website

  • Complete the appeal form, specifying:

    • The decision concerned

    • The reasons why you believe it is unjustified

    • Any relevant information or screenshots to support your request

Our team will review your case and respond within a maximum of 30 business days.

If, after this internal appeal, you are not satisfied with the outcome, you may contact an independent out-of-court dispute resolution body, in accordance with the DSA.

  1. Transparency and accountability

UNEAR is committed to periodically publishing transparency reports detailing, in particular:

  • The number of reports received

  • The most common types of violations

  • The moderation actions applied

  • The average processing times

These reports are intended to ensure trust, transparency, and accountability in managing the UNEAR community.

  1. Spirit of moderation

Moderation on UNEAR is not censorship, it is a tool for collective protection. Its purpose is to foster an atmosphere where users feel free to be themselves while respecting others.

We encourage kindness, creativity, and humor, but never at the expense of another person’s dignity or safety.
